Ideas about Education

As a younger kid, I enjoyed elementary school and the challenges of learning. During middle school, my approach to school changed. I no longer liked to learn. I maintained average grades with minimal effort, because it really wasn't important to me. Since my grades were A's and B's, nobody cared if I was doing my best.

My first two years of high school followed the trajectory from middle school. I did what was expected of me, and held no particular value for my education. During this year, my Junior year, I have come to see that my education is mine. It is the making of me. The world doesn't really care if I fail or succeed, if I am ignorant or educated. My family cares, but that is more in regards to preparing for college or a job. I have come to see though, that everything that I learn, enhances me. I don't intend to speak Spanish in life, nor do I want to be a Chemist, but that is not the point of taking those, or any other, classes. Any class that I take, any knowledge that I gather all goes to enriching the person that I will become. My education is me.

My GPA would be higher if I realized this sooner, but I am not bothered about that really. I am just glad that I look at education as something that is important to sustain me, like food, clothing, shelter, and friends.

College preparatory classes. I have a strong aptitude for math.

In the event that Ryan has no clue whatsoever, he boldly indicates this by raising no hands
